Wow - those are very different covers. It’ll be interesting to see which we get here in New Zealand - most likely the British cover but who knows. It really does look like a more adult cover and a more childish cover. I wonder if that reflects in readership in the different countries.
The other thing I wonder is if publishers were worried that the darker, more sinister Brit. cover might be thought by some to have more satanic type overtones which would not go down well in some parts of the US. Perhaps it is easier to take risks in Britain.
I like both covers but prefer the darker Brit. one as being a little more subtle.
